Job Title: Senior Scientist, Process Development - Upstream (21014-10BR)
Description:
We are seeking an organized and energetic scientist to join the Process Development (Upstream) group. The successful candidate will be responsible for media optimization and process development of stable cell lines. Additionally, the candidate will participate in mammalian cell line development, and must be able to work independently and perform experiments to a very high standard, troubleshoot technical and scientific problems and effectively progress multiple projects simultaneously. This position requires experience in the development of expression systems and processes for monoclonal antibodies (and their derivatives) and recombinant protein therapeutic products at various scales using mammalian cell lines. The ideal candidate will also assist in other aspects of recombinant protein expression including vector design and construction, DNA preparation and protein purification.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Ph.D. degree in biology, cell biology or related field with 5-10 yrs of experience.
- Must have a good understanding of cell physiology, metabolism, and cell biology, as well as a working knowledge of vector construction and stable cell line development.
- Hands-on experience with protein production and cell culture process development.
- Highly experienced in the development of fed-batch culture, media formulation and optimization.
- Must be able to perform protein quantification and characterization assays, SDS-PAGE, Western-blot analysis and ELISA.
- Experience in scale-up and technology transfer is a plus.
- Must be highly motivated, have a strong work ethic, and must maintain detailed laboratory notes and prepare technical reports. Must have strong trouble-shooting and problem solving skills. Must have the ability to function at a high level, independently and within a cross-functional team environment.
